Day # 10 Nijmegen to Kleve.

Certainly a very different kind of walking day. Yesterday lunch, I dined a la Turkish, much to my chagrin. Most of the night heaving up over the toilet. A very violent strain of whatever. Felt totally gutted this morning, but was determined to press on, so as not to jeopardize my pre-arranged accommodation arrangements over the next few days.Weather very hot, a cloudless blue sky and 30 degrees, even hotter tomorrow according to the forecasts.
The cross-over at the border between the Netherlands and Germany was anything but dramatic.Apparently there is a large 'Velcom in Deutschland' road sign and I had been planning to snap a trophy pic. Completely missed it. So much for walking in a food poisoned haze. I did see and photo the old abandoned (not now required in the new open Europe) German customs shed near the frontier that will have to suffice as my trophy.
No interest in food at all today. Running on empty. Have to admit that although the country roads and towns were attractive, I had my head down with thoughts only of a quiet, cool hotel room in which to crash.
Tomorrow is shaping up to be another long 30 kms hot stretch, but already feeling stronger physically about it.
Noticed in this border region very few German cars on the Dutch side, many more Dutch doing their shopping/whatever in Germany. An indication likely of lower prices on the German side.

28.2 kms. walked today per pedometer:
182.5 Cumulative kms. walked:
Type of overnight lodging: Schwannenburg Hotel.
Cost of lodging: 48E.
